Reminder: Schools will dismiss students 3 hours early on Friday, Nov. 8. That day is also the last day of the 1st marking term. Report cards will be distributed Nov. 15.

Students in Art 3 and 4 Honors were “Pump-ed” about Art History last month! Students studied famous artists and then used them as inspiration to transform a pumpkin into a fabulous work of art based on their artist!








PICTURE MAKE UP DAY is coming on Thursday 11/7 in the Wrestling Room from 8am – 12pm


Students in Art 3 and 4 Honors did cross curricular studies while researching current social and political issues for their printmaking project. Students then completed a two color screen print in the style of the artist Banksy that gives reference to their chosen issue.

Friday JMB AP African American Studies class took a fieldtrip to Adkins Arboretum and the Harriet Tubman Museum. It was a wonderful experience, and the students were deeply engaged in learning about both the natural and historical aspects of the Eastern Shore.

On Saturday, our Marching Band and Color Guard performed at the Maryland Marching Band Eastern Regionals, Delmarvacade of Bands competition. Twelve bands from the Eastern Region of Maryland competed for top honors. Mr. Miles is proud to announce that our Band & Guard took First Place in Open Small Group competition, with Specialty Awards for Best Percussion and Best Color Guard. Mr. Miles is extremely proud to announce that our Band and Guard had the highest overall score of the entire show and was named MMBA Eastern Regionals Champions, with a Specialty Award for Best Percussion in the Region. Congratulations on being Eastern Regional Champs. Our last competition is this weekend for MMBA State Championships.

College week continues.
Our JMB Guidance department and Literacy Coach assisting our Seniors with college essays and writing their resumes.




This week at JMB is College Application Week. Yesterday Wor-Wic Community College was on campus for on-site admissions. 16 students were admitted to Wor Wic for Maryland College Application Week.









The first Superintendent's Open Door Session of the school year will take place Wednesday, Oct. 23 at the school system's main office on Northgate Drive. Chat time with the superintendent is first come, first served from 4-6 pm.


On Wednesday, October 23rd, we will be administering the PSAT to all 10th graders and any 9th or 11th grade students who signed up and paid to take the PSAT. All other 9th, 11th and 12th grade students remain home that day and will complete asynchronous work at home through their Google Classrooms. This asynchronous work will be utilized for attendance purposes for any student not taking the PSAT. Students taking the PSAT test that day will be exempt from asynchronous assignments. If your student has difficulty accessing the internet, please have them request a paper copy of the assignment from their teacher. The school day will begin at the regular time of 7:45 for test takers and bus transportation will run on its normal schedule in the morning for these students. Please make sure all testers bring your school issued laptop, fully charged, and charger. Students may also bring a snack and drink to have during the break, and a personal graphing calculator. All test takers will be released after receiving a bagged lunch and bus transportation will be available approximately 12:00 with a second bus run at the end of the normal school day. Car riders and walkers will be allowed to dismiss once all testing is complete, around 11:00 am. Results for the PSAT will be available in each student’s College Board account on November 14, 2024.


On Saturday, our Marching Band and Color Guard traveled to Severna Park to compete in the Marching In The Park Competition.
Mr. Miles is proud to announce that our Band & Guard earned 1st Place in Open Small competition. Our scores were higher than at the last show and the comments we received from the judging panel were insightful. It was our best show of the season and we are proud of the accomplishments the Band & Guard has shown over the past two weeks.
Our next show is this weekend in Salisbury at the Delmarvacade of Bands Competition.
