Homecoming 2023

James M. Bennett High School is happy to announce our 2023 Homecoming Celebration from September 18th thru September 23rd. The theme for the week is Night of the Floating Lanterns.

On each day of the week, a school Spirit Day will be held.  Themes for each day include: Monday - Anything but a Backpack (NO SHOPPING CARTS OR OTHER STOLEN PROPERTY, must be carriable, admin have final say) ; Tuesday – Pajama Day; Wednesday – Senior Citizens Day;  Thursday – Disney Day ;  Friday- Chameleon Color Wars (Seniors – Pink, Juniors – Purple, Sophomores – Green, Freshmen - Turquoise.)


The Homecoming Football game will be held on Friday September 22nd at 6:00pm at Wicomico County Stadium against Queen Anne's County High School.  The theme color is Purple.  At Halftime, the Outstanding Clippers will be presented after the JMB Band performs their 2023 field show titled: “This Just In.”  Broadcast news has evolved into a 24/7 culture. Information is unrelenting in its pursuit of an audience. The JMB Band & Guard depicts the frenetic energy of the news, to take the audience on a journey through unique moments in traffic, weather, and sports.

The students known to be "Sailing the Clipper Way" will be nominated to be a part of the Outstanding Clippers. Members of the Outstanding Clippers will be chosen by their classmates for being good representatives of the "Sailing the Clipper Way" -- meaning they are Anchored in Respect, Navigate Responsibility, and Chart Excellence. 

Individual students can nominate up to three of their classmates for the Outstanding Clippers in their “Class Of” Google Classroom by noon on Friday September 15th. Starting on Monday September 18th, students will then vote for three students from their eligible nominees to represent them as Outstanding Clipper. Voting will continue through Tuesday September 19th at 3:00pm.  

The top three students of the freshman, sophomore, and junior classes, along with the top 5 members of the senior class comprise the Outstanding Clippers and will be recognized at halftime during the homecoming football game. The top five students from the senior class will walk the field, and the top three will be announced and recognized at the game. 

On Friday September 22nd there will be a Homecoming Rally during 5th period.  Parents, if you need your student to leave school early, please make arrangements to pick them up before 1:30pm.   


The Homecoming Dance, following the theme “Night of the Floating Lanterns” will be held on Saturday September 23rd from 8:00pm – 10:00pm at JMB. There will be drinks and light snacks included, along with table games and sports.  Tickets to Homecoming are $15 per person. This year, students are able to pay by Cash, Card, or Check.

Juniors and Seniors will be able to buy tickets on Monday September 18th at the school store at lunch, and Freshman and Sophomores will be able to buy tickets on Tuesday September 19th at lunch.  Dance tickets will also be on sale from 4 - 5pm on Tuesday September 19th from 3:00 - 4:00pm in the main office for students who don't have lunch at JMB.  Guest tickets will be on sale starting on Wednesday September 20th on all lunch shifts.  The guest will need to complete the Guest Dance Form before being issued a ticket.  A maximum of 600 tickets will be sold, so students desiring tickets should buy tickets early.
