During the course of the last school year and into the start of this school year, the staff and students at Bennett have been looking for more ways to recognize Outstanding Clippers.

Our student recognition team has created: "Sailing the Clipper Way," which captures the essence of a purposeful educational journey that draws inspiration from maritime exploration. Each theme represents a distinct facet of this voyage, contributing to a comprehensive approach to personal and academic growth:

Anchored in Respect: Like a sturdy anchor that keeps a ship secure amidst changing tides, being "Anchored in Respect" forms the bedrock of the Clipper Way. This theme underscores the significance of treating fellow sailors – classmates, teachers, and the broader community – with consideration and empathy. Respecting individual differences, ideas, and feelings cultivates an atmosphere of trust, fostering collaboration and open communication. By grounding their actions in respect, students set a course for a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Navigating Responsibility: In the maritime world, navigating requires careful planning, attentiveness, and accountability. Likewise, "Navigating Responsibility" encourages students to steer their educational journey with diligence and accountability. Students take charge of their learning, completing assignments punctually, participating actively in class discussions, and embracing challenges with determination. Just as skilled navigators avoid obstacles to stay on course, students uphold their responsibilities to ensure steady progress toward their goals.

Charting Excellence: The path to excellence mirrors a navigator charting the course for uncharted waters. "Charting Excellence" is about setting ambitious aspirations and continually raising the bar for personal and academic achievements. Students strive for mastery, fueled by curiosity and the pursuit of knowledge. Just as skilled navigators refine their routes for optimal outcomes, students refine their skills, adapt to new information, and evolve as learners. This theme encourages individuals to explore their potential and pursue greatness in their chosen endeavors.

"Sailing the Clipper Way" thus encapsulates a holistic approach to education and character development. Anchored in respect, navigating responsibility, and charting excellence, this journey equips students to navigate life's challenges and opportunities with integrity, resilience, and a commitment to personal growth. Just as skilled sailors successfully navigate diverse conditions, students guided by these principles will confidently navigate their unique paths toward success and fulfillment.

Using the "Sailing the Clipper Way" guidelines, the Student Government Association has developed a plan to highlight students who are doing an outstanding job of "Sailing the Clipper Way." From Thursday, September 14th through Friday, September 15th at noon, students can nominate up to three classmates for being outstanding Clippers. Students nominated will receive an email sent to their school email to confirm if they accept the nomination.

Starting on Monday, September 18th, students will then vote for three students from the eligible nominees to represent the school. Voting will continue through Tuesday, September 19th, at 3:00 p.m.

The top three students of the freshman, sophomore, and junior classes, along with the top 5 members of the senior class, will comprise the Outstanding Clipper Crew, who will be recognized at halftime during the homecoming football game. The top five students from the senior class will walk the field, and the top three will be announced and recognized at the homecoming game.
