
Congratulations to all of the high school students who took part in the 2023-2024 ACE Mentor Program through Wicomico County Public Schools. Wicomico students recently competed in the ACE (ACE = Architecture, Construction, Engineering) Final Presentation Night, which featured a showcase of individual projects as well as the team competition. Wicomico's ACE team and its "Salisbury Riverfront Recreation Center" proposal carried the day, with Wicomico winning the team trophy over Saints Peter and Paul High, St. Michaels High and Easton High. Wicomico ACE students also received $6,300 in scholarships from the ACE Wicomico board.

Public comments during the Board meeting will be limited to 20 participants. Anyone unable to pre-register online may visit the school system office at 2424 Northgate Drive in business hours during that timeframe to fill out a paper copy of the pre-registration form. Anyone who pre-registers will be contacted by email prior to the Board meeting. Anyone pre-registering to give public comments after the first 20 people have already pre-registered may submit comments at any time to comments@wcboe.org.
If all 20 speaking slots are not filled through pre-registration, people will be able to register in person at the meeting venue to provide public comments on a first-come, first-served basis in the hour before the scheduled start time of the Board meeting.


Our February VP Shoes - Vernon Powell Student-Athletes of the Month are Gabrielle Corbin and Luke Jefferson!
Gabrielle is a senior forward for the Girls Basketball team and helped lead the team to their first Bayside Championship since 1985! Gabby’s physical presence on the court does not go unnoticed. Despite being sidelined the past three years due to injury, she is making the most of her senior season and has earned 1st Team All Bayside South honors. The Lady Indians will host the Regional Semifinal game tomorrow night at 5:00PM.
Luke is in his senior season for the Wrestling team. This past weekend, Luke earned the title of 2A East Regional Champion in the 285 Heavyweight division. Luke and three of his teammates have punched their ticket to the State Championship Tournament that will take place at The Show Place Arena starting tonight and ending on Saturday!

The public comment section of the agenda is an opportunity for the Superintendent and Board to listen to individuals’ own comments on topics concerning Wicomico County Public Schools. The Board chairman has the right to limit public comments in length or those concerning personnel or student matters which clearly identify an individual or individuals, appeals or legal matters that are before the Board, negotiations and topics that are more appropriately addressed in closed session or privately with a staff member.
Only verbal comments are permitted during public comment session of a Board meeting. No signs or posters may be displayed by the public during board meetings. Written, printed, audio, or video material may be submitted via comments@wcboe.org.
Each speaker shall address all comments directly to the Board and speak only from the designated location for public comments. For additional information, please refer to the Public Comments Protocol Policy.

Last night our Varsity Boys Basketball and Cheerleading teams recognized 5 amazing seniors for their dedication and hard work! Thank you and congratulations to Kaniyaha Outlaw, Takai Hugee, Drake Long, Jonylson Prucien, and Jaden Sampson.
After the senior recognition, the Boys followed through with a 71 - 52 win over Crisfield! The boys move to 10-6 on the season and are back in action this Friday night at Pocomoke High School.







Our January VP Shoes Student-Athletes of the Month are Kayden Fryling and Se'Lah Foreman!
Kayden represents our Unified Strength & Conditioning team and has been a key factor in helping the Tribe perform at the highest level throughout the month of January. In a recent meet, Kayden deadlifted an astonishing 535 pounds!
Se'Lah has led our Girls Varsity Basketball team to an impressive 13-0 record! So far this season, She has averaged 20 points, 5.7 steals, 3.6 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game. Se'Lah leads by example both on and off the court and will hopefully help our girls basketball team make a strong play off push in February and March.

SCHOOL STATUS ALERT for Monday, Jan. 22nd:
Wicomico County Public Schools will have a 90-minute delay on Monday morning (January 22nd) due to road conditions in some areas of the county. Students should follow their school’s instructions regarding the day’s schedule. Stay safe.


Wicomico County Public Schools will dismiss 2 hours early on Friday, Jan. 19th due to inclement weather. All after-school and evening activities are cancelled for Friday. All activities for Saturday, Jan. 20th are also cancelled out of an abundance of caution. Please be safe.


School Status Alert for Wednesday, Jan. 17: Due to inclement weather, there will be a 90-minute delay for Wicomico County Public Schools on Jan. 17 to evaluate weather and road conditions. If there is any change to this status, an update will be sent out and posted early Wednesday.


The monthly meeting of the Wicomico County Board of Education will now be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18.


The Board of Education will hold a Public Budget Hearing to present information on the development of next year’s Wicomico County Public Schools budget (FY2025) and to receive public input at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, February 8th in the Board Auditorium at 101 Long Avenue in Salisbury.
This budget hearing will also be live-streamed on the Watch Board Meeting page of the school system’s website at www.wicomicoschools.org
